New Study

Filed under: Getting Started — by Cassie @ 10:29 pm

Some ladies and I are going to be doing another study by Kristie Gant called Prayer.  Focus Publishing recently started publishing this study and they offer a 50% discount if you order 6 or more studies.  If you’d like to do this study alone or with us (via the Bible Study Blog) you can call 1-800-913-6287 or
www.focuspublishing.com to view and order.  You have to call the phone number to get the discount.  My hope is that the Lord will raise up small groups in churches around the country to do this study and grow in prayerfulness.  You don’t have to do it with our group, but you are welcome to join us.

Kristie is a godly woman and her studies are the best I have ever seen.  They are inductive, but manageable as far as time requirements, and give plenty of room for prayer and meditation on God’s word–the result is life change because the word of God and the Spirit of God are given opportunity to work in our hearts together (the bread of the Word and the water of the Spirit-gotta have both).

Prayer: Coming to the Throne with Purpose, Passion and Praise
Kristie Gant

An inductive Bible study written specifically for believers who desire to pray more passionate, purposeful, and God-honoring prayers. This 11-week course is ideal for personal and group study and uses the Lord’s Prayer as a foundation to address such topics as:

  • The Role of the Holy spirit in Prayer
  • Fasting
  • Confession
  • Praying for the Glory of God.

So my “challenge” to you is to gather 6 or more people from your church or local churches and do this study together.  You can set a meeting time or you can do what we busy wives and mom’s do–a blog and e-mail format that allows us to encourage each other, work at our own pace, and keep each other accountable.  If you happen to attend the same church you’ll also have opportunity to talk about what the Lord teaches you when you meet on Sunday mornings.

How to find the introductions post

Filed under: Getting Started — by Cassie @ 4:09 am

If you need to introduce yourself but couldn’t find the right place, click on “Introductions” under catagories on the sidebar.  This will take you to only one post–the right one for introducing yourself under.  I am sorry for the previous confusion.

How this blog will work

Filed under: Getting Started — by Cassie @ 8:03 pm

I’ve been praying about how to make this work well.  We are all studying in different places and times.  What I have decided to do is post questions as I think of them, labeled with what week in the book it is for.  As you complete each week, or the section of the week the question relates to, you can come here and answer the question.  Also, for each week, I will put up a post for general thoughts so you can share whatever you want under that post.  And when I say week, I don’t mean particular dates, but a week in the book.  You are free to go quickly or slowly as you are able.  I know the accountability will help to keep me working through the lessons at a fairly even pace.  But our situations are all different.  If you need any help, please e-mail me or call me.

What are your thoughts as you start this study?

Filed under: Getting Started, questions — by Cassie @ 7:52 pm

If you would like, please share any initial thoughts as we start this study (we are going slowly at this point, waiting for everyone to get their books–but those of us who have them are anxious to get going!  It is a great study).  Earlier today, Tammy sent the following:

I started my study in Psalm this morning and I already have been blessed by it. When I read in Chapter 73 the song of Asaph, I really connected with the words. I have walked in those shoes before. I praise God for holding on to me through all of it.  Tammy

Anna wrote:

Hi All-
I have completed the Intro!  I love it… just wanted to let everyone
know that I had completed it.  I agree with Asaph -I feel like I am
where he was when he wrote the psalm about worship in 1 chron.  I wept
when I read it, but… “with tears of hope!”
In Jesus,
Anna

At Home in the 3rd Book of the Psalms

Filed under: Getting Started — by Cassie @ 7:05 pm

Dear Ladies,

Thank you for joining me on this study.  I look forward to growing with you as we study God’s word together.  Once we get our books, you will be able to work through the lessons and post your thoughts here.  I will put up a post for each lesson which you all can add your thoughts to using the comments option.  This will allow us to hold each other accountable without leaving home.

We are going to start with a study on the third book of Psalms.  If you are interested in joining our study, order from Kristie using the At Home link on the sidebar.  If you live in or near Crestview, you can order with me if you let me know what you need by Thursday the 31st of January, 2008.  This will cut down on shipping costs.

At Home Studies

Filed under: Getting Started — by Cassie @ 5:30 pm

These studies are written by a godly Christian woman, Kristie Gant, and are from a reformed perspective.  They are inductive, which means they show you how to study the Bible for yourself.

They have been endorsed by Martha Peace.  When she saw the material she took it to her publisher because she felt the larger body of Christ needed to have access to them.
